1986 Lecture from Junge Welt, offical paper of the East German Socialist Youth Organization FDJ (Freie Deutsche Jugend). [excerpts].
This is an English translation of the German original.

"We make Marxism-Leninism a part of us, faithfully represent the politics of the party of the working class, and act class-consciously in any situation. The mobilizing battle slogan coined by Comrade Erich Honecker, about 'gearing up to do everything for peace and for the welfare of the people,' is our action program. The FDJ sees in the peace policies of the GDR and of its leading representative, Comrade Erich Honecker, the reflection and embodiment of the wishes and hopes of the youth for a secure future."

"Our age is the epoch of transition from capitalism to socialism. We draw power and optimism for our actions from the persistent struggle for the world-wide march toward socialism. Everything binds us with our future, socialism. Nothing binds us to imperialism. To our socialist Fatherland, the German Democratic Republic, go out our love, our faithfulness, and our deeds."

"The enemy's attempts to slow the march toward socialism by means of ideological diversion, anti-Communism and anti-Sovietism are what we consistently turn back . Marxism-Leninism is our compass for the new socialist world, that world which is one historic epoch ahead of capitalism."
