"3,874 videos produced in Russian and eight other languages by Soviet Central Television (1985-1991) and Ostankino Television (1992-1994), and recorded by RFE/RL’s Monitoring Unit and successor agencies, totaling almost 840 hours of material portray[ing] different aspects of life in the Soviet Union and Russian Federation in the late 1980s and early 1990s."

Documents from the 500 Days Economic Program, which was proposed to convert post-Soviet Russia from a communist to a market-based economy.
The program was not implemented in favor of the more moderate "Basic Guidelines for Stabilization of the Economy and Transition to a Market Economy". This program used many measures from the 500 Days Plan, but "lacked a timetable and did not mention the division of economic power between the Union and Republics."

The Mitrokhin Archive consists of summarized notes taken by Vasili Nikitich Mitrokhin, a former KGB archivist who defected to the United Kingdom after the fall of the Soviet Union. Primarily, this collection contains items from his "Chekist Anthology," which covers activities of the secret Soviet organization Cheka in places such as Czechoslovakia, Afghanistan, and Egypt.
